righto, the old girl wouldnt start properly this afternoon when i was about to leave work, went to go kick her over, she turned but didnt want to fire.

took 3 go's to get her to run, but once she was going, she idled beautiful.

i have a funny feeling it is still the original spark leads on there, and i havent serviced it yet since ive had her, so will be doing that this weekend and see if it helps.

but other than leads, plugs, what else could be problem?

alternator?

i have warranty still on the car which covers alternators and the such, so once i change the leads and plugs and it is still playing up.

what ares some other problems it could be? as i can get it all replaced and worked on for free.

cheers

I hope for your sake it's not the same problem that I have in my lane..

It unfortunately sounds the same, mine cranks but no firing of the engine.
The one thing I have noticed is that every time it's going to do it the LCD display in the dash only lights up very faintly.. :?

It's the sort of thing that will happen randomly 3 or 4 times in a week then not happen again for months..  Which makes it damn hard to fault find.

The one thing I have found out is the EEC isn't getting power when this happens and I've gone and replaced relays and everthing else associated with powering the EEC, yet the problem still persists. :x

I gave up in the end of finding WTF was going on and instead went around the problem by running 12v directly from the steering column IGN power to the EEC power via a switch up under the centre console.

Most of the time when this happens it fixes itself by just turning the IGN off then on again. And it seems to happen more one hot days where the cars been in the sun for a while.. :x   :(

Ahh benny, thats something you dont want at the moment when the mods are on their way.
But i can relate my car to that problem, on some days it would take a few trries for it to fire, then itd fire and run fine.
Later on the fuel pump decided to s**t itself, whilst going round a corner, ended up on the wrong side of the road on a hill. Was quite attention grabbing.
So maybe your fuel pump is on its way out.

Thread cleaned up - keep it on topic people, well done to those who have - ignore those who haven't and let a Mod act on it. Don't inflame things by replying!

righto, havent had a chance tohave a real good look at it yet, but it seems to be only having troubles starting when it has been parked on a angle for a while (not a huge angle) and i have to give her a little pump of the pedal to get her going.

i was thinking maybe fuel pump about to s**t itself, but what do u fellas think?

not as yet, i will hopefully do it all this weekend, if work doesnt want me in there again.

i will be changing spark plugs, leads, fuel filter, oil, oil filter, coolant.

anything else i should be changing that may cause the problem.

to check you're fuel pressure is there just take the cap off the drivers side fuel rail, and there will be a valve inside (just like a pushy tube) depress the valve with a small screwdriver or so, try this next time it wont start the first time, just expect a small spray of fuel if you have pressure or a dribble if things arent good.
I have the gear to check pressure if you want a hand
by the way the new manifold made heaps more power!
