the xr8 has 4valves per cylinder as well it has dohc while the 220 has 3 valves and has duel vct control.

There is a guy on Australian Ford forums with a 220 and from what i can remember he was running a full system exhaust, ba edit, underdrives CAI and a few other things, its a manual and apparently it pulls like a train. A few workshops have started experimenting with the 220 and have had excellent results, the motor has alot of potential. I wouldn't change it over.

if im correct the 260 doesnt have the duel vct,so if u do all these mods mentioned above and maybe when a vct controller is released u will easily outrun a ba xr8.
and i think it would be cheaper to mod the 220 compared to the 260 as well

Barry from BPT has reflashed(using the SCT gear) his 3V work ute to just over 190rwkw(a stock Turbo makes about 180) with no mods whatsoever! Of course this peak figure is not the whole story, the area under the curve is huge so the average power and torque increase is even more impressive.
The 3V with its VCT and long runner intake makes more low end torque than the 4V engine. The SCT software allows modfiying the VCT.
