So after doing an explorer manifold change over on both mine and my brothers EL, both needed a new mount for the accelerator cable. The original mount was off the back of the standard EGR spacer. The spacers we are using dont have the bolt holes for the mount so we had to fabricate a couple on the fly.

Nothign fancy just some 3mm plate doubled over and bent into an L shape that swings off the bottom rear bolt of the TB. Not ideal but at the time it was the best and quickest we could throw together

I was just after some thoughts and maybe some pics of how others have fabricated theirs, because both of these whilst work ok they need to be redone.

I just use the EGR spacer that came with the AU intake and this also allows the EGR to be mounted in the original position & keeps the ecu happy. The US EGR spacers are designed for RHS TB location & aren't ideal to use on Aussie LHS TB intakes

Yeah the manifold I got didnt have the egr spacer and trying to find one is proving damn near impossible. The egr spacers I picked up for a song but are the after market ford performance ones. I might have to bite the bullet and just get my original one machined out cause there doesnt seem to be a lot of options as far as places to swing a bracket off

Does the Au throttlebody and egr spacer work ok on an e series, i've just got one to fit to my Explorer manifold i'm fitting to my NL. Do you just swap the IAC to e series and file the slots in the e series tps to get it to work. Do the throttle cable still fit?

pete is the best person to answer this :

Explorer TB and spacer is different, but you can make them work with a bit of custom mods (changing the throttle shafts or something I think).

the AU stuff though should bolt straight on.

There are also guys on ebay selling spacers with a custom-made throttle holder bracket. Petes got some photos somewhere of one he made as well

Yes, but it's also worthwhile drilling & tapping the AU EGR spacer to allow the EGR valve & EVPS to bolt on in the original E-series location. Don't worry that the EGR spacer is blocked off, the ecu only requires the EGR solenoid to move on command and for that movement to be reported back to the ecu by the EVPS. This avoids fault codes & limp home mode.

Drilling the spacer so the EGR fits also means that The people who dont know (Rego inspectors) dont see anything that should be there.. or is that dont not see anything that should..

ooops hit submit before I typed....

The manifold and TB that I put on the DL are both off an AU and it all seemed to bolt up just fine. But I did have to open out the screw holes on the tps to get a bit more movement. The gain is amazing to say the least...now all I have to do is sort out the ISC which is the orginal one.

Well that sure as hell looks the part...thanks to Nigel I scored myslef an au egr spacer...so it will have the mount on it.

Out of interest though and I know its kinda off topic...after the change over to the explorer manifold im getting near 80km more out of a tank of fuel...is that normal?...i did give the injectors a soak over night as well but wouldnt have thought that would have done much.
