Hi guys, just enquiring on how I can find out how many 98 Xh V8spac's were built. Is there a way I can find this out. Cheers

Should be round 400 or so. I think all or the majority were autos too. Not sure where to find build number.

There was a model called a "Splash" in the XH's....had a leather steering wheel, IIRC.

Well I just picked up a '99 XH 5.0 1 Tonner about a month ago.
It's been suggested to me that there is actually less than 100 of them. Whereas there was 180 or so XR8's. I don't know if they were referring to the entire XH V8 Range or just the '99 model year? |

The XH V8's are from Oct 97 onwards (coinciding with the EL series V8 update).
Usually the V8 'S' models and XR8's. Pete's one might've been a dealer optioned vehicle - VIN plate I guess will tell the story. Probably only got the std 165kw 'S' engine too unfortunately.

I think snap means dealer uprated to 1 Tonne specs gassa...it's a factory V8.
Btw why don't you reply to your pm's? |

I don't know for sure if it's a Factory one tonner but the previous owner said it had the most horrendously stiff rear springs( I remember our XF 1 Tonne work ute and these springs were so stiff it would put your back out!?) and it had 1 Tonne badging. Still doesn't mean it was though.
What should the compliance plate say? |

Pete, Should have 6 leaf rear springs ('S' has 5), along with the load sensing valve in the rear brake line above the axle tube. I only have the XHI model codes, assume XHII would be same: 45671 GLI ute, 45674 'S' ute, 45677 outback ute. One tonners are based on the GLI IIRC. I suppose too if the engine code isn't H (4.0L I6), it'd have to be a factory V8.

xh utes were made in plant 2 , v8 auto on s pack & XR ,v8 manuals XR only. model code on id plate will confirm what it is. check vin number to stamped body number, id plates are riveted on you only need a drill & rivet gun to change Xh ute stopped production May 1999. in plant 2, Au utes were made plant 1

Pete, as pointed out, if the VIN matches plate and body, it's a V8 'S'. Looks like 45774 would be for series II. The 'S' had a drivers airbag, and the XR's and V8's had LSD as std - no ABS on yours by looks in the pic.
Strangely enough, you might find footwell lights, low coolant level, low washer bottle level, and under the shelf near the brake booster might be a cruise connector. Checks out at http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSele ... .eccvas509 as well. How'd the rear suspension stack up ?

Yes it has coolant level,washer level and footwell lights but unfortunately no cruise connector. I've got the cruise stuff from a DF 5.0 LTD I wrecked so I'm going to have to splice that in.
Rear leaves have been modified now so I don't know what it had before. Here's the VIN on the body;
