Has anyone recently imported heads from the states?
I was rough quoted $585 US to import some alloy heads weighing about 35kg (This may not be correct) http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/pro ... 69&large=1 Anyway a mate recommended me to send them to a freight company he knows in California, but the wait can be up to 3 months before they get here, any ideas of a quicker and cheap way of freighting them direct, just three months is a long time to find out something has gone wrong.

Ive used fed ex heaps of times and got my goods from the states in 5-7 working days and wasent 2 expensive but this was about 1.5 hrs ago

ive had quotes of $500 - $600 for a supercharger from the states, problem is that fed ex and UPS only list international priority as the service type, i know it would be much cheaper if it went by sea

For heads and stuff fedex should come through very well they are cheaper than ups.
never had a problem with them. I wouldnt be bringing it in by sea takes way too long and they may go missing in action . |

Use fedex and tell them to put on frieghting paperwork that its a commercial sample and value less than 1000.00 and you will not get stung for GST or any other landing cost's. Ive brought in many garrett and masterpower turbo's like that with no problems. Ive been quoted for COD for a complete engine for $700.00 and thats by air. So that gives u a ruff idea of of weight.
Fedex is the way to go and yes i may be having something really special coming in from the states if all goes well

Actually I meant to type USPS instead of UPS as their postal service was reasonably cheap for sending an intake I bought from New York to me via slow shipping.
2 month wait though.

http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsass ... traceparts No I hadn't, but they sell the same gear as a lot of US ebay sites for similar prices, the heads they sell are those Chinese made Pro Comp, I hear good and bad things, the debate is still out (I have been following threads on Corral forums for a long time), and to save anyone saying I told you so, I am trying to get those Pro Topline (Went broke NZ company) heads for the same price, haven't heard a bad thing about them YET. Thanks for the link, will add it to ebay favourites.

Fedex is the way to go and yes i may be having something really special coming in from the states if all goes well I just got quoted for a package weighing 40kg 500mm long, 400mm wide and 200mm high (it was rough measurements that came out of my head) $900+ by FEDEX, I spun out and said no thanks, thanked the bloke for quoting for me and hung up, so I definitely didn't say the right things, he was too hard for me to understand anyway (Western side SE Asian decent  ).
Quoted $100 Aus from California to Australia by this guy JUNKYARD CLASSICS (Ray Flaherty) ph: (02) 9524 0991, taking 25 days after shipping container leaves, one leaves ever three weeks, so if I picked the wrong time it could be around two months before I got them but then again it could be just a month if I was lucky. At this point I will try my luck with the container.

Well mate I just received a parcel today from the states. It came by USPS. It weighed 19lbs 9.6oz. It cost me $112.10 US.
