Alrighty

Ive just spent the last week installing the explorer manifold slowly and now im stuck.

When i removed the dizzy i rotated the engine to #1 on the cap, installed manifold and all vac lines etc.

Only thing not plugged up is the iat sensor as it seems to be beyond stuck in the h.o...

Anyway i made sure i rotated the engine tp tdc on comp stroke, installed dizzy and it was out so i adjusted dizzy till it was on #1 (i marked it with a dot) and tightned the bolt.

The problem

I cant get it into base timing mode to set my timing, im just wondering if there is something ive done wrong when installing the dizzy as i tried to drive it (big no no) and the turbo was basicaly building boost instant the throttle is touched ie even for cruize.

When i got it home (drove around the block) the headers were glowing red hot..

So i know its a timing issue.. but were did i go wrong????

you must still be out, either that or TDC on your balancer is wrong (if you didn't manually check).
why can't you go into diagnostic?

Ok i ended up finding my problem, it was a bolt and washer i had placed infront of the throttle cable bracket causing it to rev @ 2000rpm.

I set the dizzy and did the timing set to 30* but i did it while engine was cold.

Got it sorted and its home now, still needs tps etc set.

Thanks hans.
