Hey guys! i have a BA Fairmont Ghia as you probably already know not the same motor as xr8's. i have some money to spend on it and is very hard to decide what to do first, it already has three inch exhaust with hooker muffler at the back and is lowered 2 inches. does anyone have any good ideas performance wise? types and brands would help! thanks!.

Also do the gt and xr8 manifold's fit onto the 3 valve 5.4l motors?

Get some pacemaker headers and underdrive pulleys and cold air from BPT.
The DOHC intake will not fit a 3V engine but you don't need one anyway...your stock intake is one of the reasons your engine has a bigger bottom end punch than the DOHC engine.
A custom tune will also wake up the 3V. Some lower diff gears also help.

The standard things to do are full exhaust, good cai and intake pipe, underdrives and tune. Each person will tell you a different brand, if you want best performance then full Di Filippo exhaust and Bluepower CAI would be my pick, if you just want a pick me up and save a few coin then Pacemakers and your choice of cai will do nicely.

shorter diff gears should give the best bang for buck

So if the dohc intake won't fit what if i use a custom intake manifold, somebody suggested to me dual throttle? with the combination of the diff gears, would i expect much change in power from those? what are the pro's and con's of the underdrive pulleys?

Dual throttle bodies are wank....just forget about them.
Your intake is a good piece. If you wanted to make a custom shorter runner piece it can be done but do all the other stuff first.
There's no change in power with diff gears it just gets you out of the hole faster and into the sweet spot of your torque curve faster.
Pulleys free up the most power and torque for the buck and it's over the entire rev range too.

Under drives pretty much makes your car rev faster down low and mid, be sure to get the over sized water pump pulley too so you don't under drive your water pump. Stick with a good exhaust, cai, underdrives and tune first. You will be suprised in the difference just exhaust and cai makes, the stock gear is very restrictive on these engines.

The oversized water pump pulley actually Under drives it, which is what you want...they turn too fast anyway. It is one of the reasons you pick up performance...less windage losses driving the water pump too quick.

ok so how much should a underdrive pulley setup set me back?

There is no point getting a tune with no mods done, you will not see the full potential and each performance mod you do after will need a re tune which adds more cost.

Underdrives with the water pump pulley set me back $440 installed last week.
