I wont clog up this thread with all of the problems I and others have had with them.
If you want to know more, i can send you a PM, or put up a post about them.

Send me a PM thanks
If you have any other suggestions i am all ears 8-)

Just an update for you guys
Had couple delays on build but all good now and nearly have everything to start putting motor together

This is what i have
DART Sportsman block
SRP 4.125 forged flat top pistons
SCAT forged crankshaft
SCAT forged I beam conrods
COMP CAMS hydraulic roller camshaft
EDELBROCK Victor intake manifold

This is what i still need to get
AFR 205cc alloy heads
MILODON or similar gear drive
HI ENERGY oil sump
Custom fuel system
and various other little items

I had the pro top line heads all ported and fitted out with guide plates, screw in studs, roller rockers and all that but decided to sell these heads and fit a set of alloys instead

So now waiting for new set of AFR's to come in and get same special treatment as old irons received then it will be assembly time - can't wait

Hopefully will all be together in next month or two

gday mate,,

a 3.400 stroke with a 4.165 bore is 371 cubes

i hav built one with a 8.2 dart and 212 cc heads, its making over 540 fwhp n/a

Been a long time since i updated this thread

Everything was put on hold for long time due to health reasons, i actually came VERY close to selling everything off in that time but i'm glad i didn't as i'd like now to finish this monster .

I am in negotiations with guy in WA at moment and have 95% secured a 4 spd auto gearbox that has been rebuilt by Yarra Valley autos to handle over 1000+HP.
For long time i have been thinking of what type of gearbox i would want for this and right now i just can't afford the 8-10k Mal Wood wants for custom T56 install that will handle same amount of HP.
So this auto complete with 3k stall converter will suit me down to the ground for a while.

So a general update at this time is that everything is sitting at engine builders still waiting to get some love sent its way. The Pro Top line heads have been sold to my flatmate and now addorn his stroked TL50, so that leaves me with the 205cc AFR alloys which suits me fine :)

I maybe selling the conrods and buying some better units yet, i will talk to my builder and get his feedback on this first though.

I'm going to pump all my money into this motor over next 3 months minimum to get it the way i've always wanted it. After this i will be looking around for an AU Monty to convert into a T mock to drop this drivetrain into.

Let the fun and games begin

This is the year!!!

Quick update

Transmission is now 100% mine - deposit paid :P
She's a fully rebuilt 4 speed auto to suit V8 Windsor. Trans was rebuilt and strengthened by Yarra Valley Autos using Kevlar clutches, upgraded solenoid switches, modified oil galleries etc etc and is rated at 1,100+hp. Also comes with a quality 3000rpm stall converter.

A lot of people would know this box as it's out of "Minginator" and they would know that previous owner had an open cheque book when it came to building his car.

All this with under 100k's on the box, hasn't even had it's first oil change yet
Still brand new :D :D :D

Good to see this build underway again. I look forward to seeing the end result. I wouldn't bother with a t56 if you're going to have BIG power. Better options are out there for manual trannys

BTR auto, a 97LE as found behind V8 Falcons and Fairlanes although this one is from a AU T3.

A T mockup is good idea too, nice classy Fairmont with a real engine under the bonnet!!

After talking to Tony at Yarra Valley today i can only remember half of what he said was done to this box, there seriously is THAT much been done to it it's not funny. Perfect for this motor :D

so does it have a manual valve body controlled by aftermarket gearbox controller or is it going to be controlled by the ECU???

I only know 1 shop that has made big hp with BTR that a proven but want $4500.00 for box and converter and i can get a fullhouse C4 with race converter for that much but dont have the extra gear, but you have to wire up the BTR which cost a fair fue hundred so i rather have longer diff ratio to compensate.

Dude, its a btr, you cannot make them a full manualised box, in Drive, it shifts like normal

Dude there is a shop in melb who have modified the BTR to shift when u move the shifter, just like a hydrolic manualised C4. But with the BTR it needs a computer to shift and if you use the standard computer you put it into drive and it will shift by itself. Which this gearbox goes

The shop i know use an aftermarket ECU to shift the gears when u want it like a manuelised C4 but obviously not hydrolic like the C4. It triggers the soliniod to switch when u move the shifter into what gear you want.

Box will shift by itself through the factory computer or you can manually do it by selecting the gears as per factory shifters

The reason C4's etc are manualised is due to NO vacuum to measure load..
The modulator needs vacuum .. But in blown applications it doesn't work..
The BTR and other auto's that are elect shifted work fine in boosted / blown situations..
If this BTR is was out of a T series, knowing the owner NO expense would be spared!!
Tiptronic can be used on these auto's.. The higher performance cars had them..
Not sure if it would take 1000 h.p for long ??
But there are B.A's running quick times with modified BTR...
We went through this with an ED Fairmont turbo ? We fitted a manualised C4..
Even my 1UZ turbo Celica with 2 speed Powerglide is manual shifted..
Heat is an issue !! So use a big trans cooler..
Looks like lock up has been disabled ??
BTW all V8 BTR's have kevler friction material..
