Hi there,im going nuts at the moment trying to work out what v8 to put in the eb at the moment ive got a eb 4lt with ported head, crow cam etc it made 158rwkw but i need to go to the v8 to step it up.Im probably going to run a carbie setup as it wont be driven on the street ive even thought about try to squese a clevo in there but the main hassle is the starter motors on the wrong side ive even thought about a ls1 and thats starting to get desperate.Hmm any input would be great.cheers

You want to go from efi to carb and yet a starter motor on the opposite side of the engine is too complicated for you? Put the crack pipe down son.

Engines combo's are that varied you can take your pic. Do you want massive revs and noise or do you want a s**t of torque and massive tire speed (read smoke) without stressing the motor too much.

If I was to build a burnout car I'd power it with a 460 big block, 2 T3 (or T4) high mount turbo's, blow through alcohol carb, c6 or powerglide auto and a set of 2.77:1 diff gears, just to be different.

Something similar to this but a fair bit tamer so it can last in a burnout.

Yea mate,i want a lazy engine, big on torque and about a 6000rpm limit and high wheel speed i would love to go a 460 but im pretty sure its to wide for a e-series i could probably recess the strut towers. The car at the moment is running 4.11,s im useing a t5 and im hitting 6500rpm in third gear during the skid its the wheel speed thats hurting at the moment. The starter motor on a clevo is not really a big issue its just that im after a pretty straight foward swap.Changing from efi to carbie is no real hassle ive had the 4lt running a 670cfm street avenger for over a year now.cheers mate

what sort of budget you looking at mate, guessing you don't want to blow the bank?
i'm thinking 351w with a tickle, swap is as straightforward as they come and has been covered well on here.

The more cubes, the easier it makes power and torque. It's the only way unless you supercharge it for the rewarding instant power & torque that supercharging would provide.

Yea my budgets about 5grand to start with, ive allready got the fuel system, msd ignition, carbie and a stock c10.The 351 windsors getting pretty hard to find but would be a good option finding extractors would probably be the hardest.

A modular fits so a 460 definitely will. Starter motor posi doesn't make any difference.
I've got a PI 2V 6.8 V10 that'll fit.
351w's are everywhere...I just picked up this good runner 5.8 EFI engine last weekend for $600!

They are that cheap. That's the fourth one I've bought now.
The first one was $2000 but that's because it was only one year old in '92 with 29k on it. Stuck it straight in my old XR and went 14.4 with no mods. The other two were $500,and now this one for $600.
There's quite a few around because alot of farmers switch to diesel engines and they b**ch about the 351's being no good. Of course it's just a case of people mocking what they don't understand...I've had nothing but great results from using them! Plus there's lots of aftermarket gear for them too.
