I'd be doing the following & then seeing what the results are.

    Check the fuel lines
Replace the fuel filter with a new one
Check the earth in the boot, make sure it's good
    Check dizzy cap, rotor button

Cheers

Sounds good, I just bought one and I'm about to chuck it on.

Here goes nothing...

Good stuff, let us know how it goes. It does sound like the engine was starving for fuel!

Cheers

I chucked it in, but its leaking.

Before I was finished I found a small rubber O-ring seal on the floor, and threw it out.

Was it out of the filter?

Seems to be leaking heavily from the inlet side.

have you got the lines all the way in before you tighten it up
thr fuel lines are flared to fit on a nipple and are held tight by the two nuts
hope this helps

Just tightened the nuts up more. I didn't want to break anything so I didn't crank on them too hard.

Still idles like crap, haven't driven it yet. I will later, but I'm willing to bet it wont fix it.

Injectors will go in next. I'm hoping to get it running properly on petrol.

Thanks for all the help fellas. I'll keep you posted.

Nope.

Have replaced injectors, fuel filter, leads, plugs, cap and rotor. Still idles and runs crap. Haven't bothered putting the gas convertor etc back in, but probably runs on gas.

Any other ideas?

Is the fuel pump something to try, or are they a "its working or it isn't, no in-between" kind of deal?

MAF is clean, everything is plugged in.

Idles well and drives well up to 1/2 throttle if I set the timing to 10 BTDC. If I set it to 30 BTDC, idles like crap too. Not sure If I had it in diag mode properly to set the timing though.

Will probably be on the back of a truck on Monday morning to a workshop

Just had another thought.

Could the dizzy be 180 degrees out? OR would it not run at all if it were?

Nope. Ran fine on gas, so ignition system, exhaust and mechanical problems are out.

Leaves Fuel pump, MAF etc I guess as uncertainties. Definitely feels like fuel or timing.

I suspect I haven't got it timed right after re-assembly though. I have a mechanic coming out tomorrow to have a look, hopefully can fix it up or just diagnose it. I want to go cruising!
