Well I guess it must be time for an update
I've decided to go with an 8 rib belt to run around the main pulleys so the first one to do was for the alternator.
The next one I had to do was the main pulley and as you can see here:
One big lump of Al that just fitted over the bed on the lathe. With a few more thousand revolutions I managed to have it start to look like something that might work.. ![]()
As you can see an 8 rib for the S/C Alt and P/S and a 6 rib for the A/C. Now I've never really liked the design of the P/S pump in the fords so unfortunately I went to the other side It makes it easy to mount down where the idle pulley lives on the stock setup. ![]()
I also needed to make up a couple of idle pulleys to route the belt and also one for the tensioner, I took the stock ford one and machined off the stud that holds the stock one and tapped a hole to mount my own larger pulley for the fatter 8 rib. ![]()
As I think I mentioned in an earlier post that the CVR water pump just wasn't going to work out so I got a mech one with an electric drive. Well I didn't like the looks of the s**t plastic pump pulley so I made a new one of those as well. ![]()
And after I bolt it all together it all it's going to end up looking a little like this..
And thats basically where I'm up to at the moment. With any luck the posting shouldn't be quite as far apart from now on.
