Aint much of a difference between 477 and 534, thought it would be a lot higher, but i reckon it would go forever.

Well, being that the 534 makes peak torque at 1700rpm is pretty cool :P

I think you'd be able to light the tyres in a falcon from idle, in 3rd gear :)

Yes 66lb/ft more and 600rpm lower is pretty impressive.
Actually walker, upon closer expection those inlets sections are not removable. You'd have to machine them off to expose the individual ports which btw are radiused at their openings. I'd say a proper intake for carb or EFI would make a substantial improvement in performance.
Here's a pic of a 534 I found on fordtrucks.com. What an aircleaner!! Still can't make out the intake/carb on this one.

Oh just discovered the 534 weighs 1032lbs(468kg). I imagine the 401 and 477 weight almost the same. The gearbox in the bus is an Alison auto.

Ford Super Duty truck engine family.
Apparently they came in F800 and larger Ford trucks and there is a marine variety also(mainly the 534). A few propane powered buses were used in the U.S. and like the FE/FT engine they were used in irrigation pumps.

*wipes a tear from his eye*
Sniff I remember Westrail Days.
The Midland Workshops. Deisel Locos and playing at the shunting yard as a child.
Evean as much as waving to the cargo train drivers as they went through Forrestfield. They would often slam the breaks on the huge cargo trains and let us climb on for a ride.

No one cared. There was no occupational health and safty and every worker was happy.

That engine would still run i think if u had the restoration bits.

Too late it's gone to the bus museum. Besides I've got too many engines here already and I just picked up a V10..

Aggh that's good as at least it will now be preserved.

Who makes that whopper in the pic?

Ford and here's a hint :D

Original version was a V12 but a V8 was required so Ford lopped 4 cyl off and made a V8. It has twin magneto's and was done in the mid 1940's and no it's wasn't for a plane :D.
