Looking to buy a project car for my 13yo son and I can resto either XK XL XM XP wagon, and convert to V8 302 C4 most likely? Hoping to learn a lot as we go.
Can someone help with the break down on what is better as a starting base model to fit the 302w in XK-XP? Are they pretty much good to go with out making extra room in floor arch and so on?
Is the Castlemaine RodShop IFS front end a good solid addition V's a XR front end or similar? (I've read mixed reviews on Castlemaine rod shop IFS, one post saying they are to weak for a high HP motor? This could just be a competitor bagging a quality product?)
I have yet to purchase a car but have found an XK that looks like a winner, just don't want to run into massive dead ends with XK when I could've gone XP and had minimal problems.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond

Ps if anyone has a XK-XP wagon they are selling get in touch.

XP has the stronger front end components straight off the bat but I don't see that as reason not to use the earlier models. Plus I actually prefer the look of XK-M.
You could fit all the stronger XP type components and five stud hubs to the earlier model anyway.
Can't comment on the CRS stuff.
I'd use this stuff anyway and I am on my '69 Cougar.....

If you want to use tall deck or bigblock engines you can go this way too....
