The 93 Cobra doesn't have water through its EGR so mine stayed that way... I'm not sure if coolant cools EGR or heats it?? Think how cold it gets in northern U.S.A and Canada....Plus its only in EGR, not in any other part of inlet...Maybe to protect throttle body?? Not disagreeing Pete.. Just debating...In any case its the EEC programe that needs changing, if you just disconnect it ? Its not the best tune...

Sorry ebxr,
missed this one and, how good it is to have intelligent discussion too.
Anyway yes it is for cooling.
The reason the Cobra has no cooling is likely due to the low base rate EGR that it has. Comparing the EGR base rate map between X3Z(cobra) and A9L(5.0HO) confirms this. This would be due to the more efficient burn achieveable with the GT40 heads.
Now comparing a 3DFA(ED 5.0) and 2DDA(ED sprint/GT) we see a slightly different scenario where the EGR base rate is more similar between the two and couple that with the heavier vehicle mass we begin to see the reason that the Aussie "Cobra" spec engine has a water cooled EGR plate.

Pete.
