Hey Guys,

Im looking at getting another 3v motor for my Fairmont and build it up with forged gear and get it set up for boost. What does a 3v usually go for out of a wreck? Would also be interested in the Boss 290 and 260.

Yeah, the last BOSS i seen was a BOSS 260 with a trans, they wanted about $7,500 for it.

I have seen a Triton 3v motor re-con for $3,300 but thats for an F-150 so the heads are different, bottem end might be the same but i would only use the block.

Other option is go to BPT and buy a 900HP rotating assembly for just over $5,000.

The more i research it, the more i think the last option would be about the best/cheapest. A block on its own new is about $2,500. Dunno what all the forged gear would be worth and the bearing etc but wouldnt end up being much less than $5,000 for just the parts.

I think the built short is the way to go too or, a long with nc ported heads.
btw the 3V truck heads are the same...only the intake is different on a truck engine.
A pair of these would do wonders for your 3V......

Hmmmm, would love to get my hands on a set of them. Wonder how much they would be delivered in aus dollars? The exchange rate between here and the US is pretty good at the moment aye :). Eagle auto parts in melbourne do ford racing stuff so might ask them.

The heads look almost identical, but the intake ports are slightly different, if you look at this motor here http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-5-4L-TRITON ... 27b4e09063

and compare it with the heads on the ford racing website youll notice on the triton motor the intake port is on an angle, where on the Ford Racing Heads it is parralell with the head. The heads on my BA are identical to the ford racing ones, except for the porting :).
