Hi All,
I've smelt it (an almost buring smell) for a short while now, but I swear, I saw some (thin) smoke flowing out of the centre vents of my car yesterday. As soon as it happened I lowered the temp so that the air con would come on and opened all of the windows and sunroof. The smoke stopped flowing after that. But anytime I put the heater on, the same thing would happen again! It wasn't that bad - but still bad enough to worry me. Could it be a coolant leak going in the heater? Will

This is a common problem in low series falcons. What is burning is leaves caught on the wire resister (fan speed controller) inside your airduct.
Take the glove box out, then take the resistor out from behind it. Clean all the dead leaves out of the ducts and put it all back together.

Srry, take that back. I see you have a Fairmont, which doesn't have a resistor.

i get a "smoke" comin out of my jap car at times ,no burnin smell but!
i just put it down to change in air temp |

Hi,
No, this smoke stinks - smells like rubber burning. Resistor or no resistor, it still might be a good thing to do anyway. I brought the car just over a month ago so it could probably do witha bit of a look-see anyway. Any further ideas? Will
