Hey all,

As you all know I have a 2006 BF XR8 manual ute.
I ran it as WSID on Wednesday 11/10/06 and my best time was a
14.166 @ 100.42 mph and a 60 ft time of 2.215.

So next up ill put it on the dyno for a couple of power runs to get a standard power figure.

Ill keep updating this post and adding pictures as I take them.

Here is the list of mods I am going to do over the next couple of months,

1. Difillipo 4-1 extractors with 1-7/8 primarys into 3inch collectors in stainless steel and hpc coated.

2. Full exhaust system, duel 3 inch mandrel bent system right the way through. Just not sure weather or not to get an X pipe fitted?

3. SS inductions growler cold air intake

4. SS inductions 80mm throttle body

5. CAPA underdrives 25%

6. Then get it custom tuned, NOT a flash tuner! A Ford edit.

I will run my car on a dyno after each mod and run at the creek as well to see what gains each made.

Eventually id like to get a set of decent sized cams put in, but ill wait till a bit more development goes into them.

very nice!
the 60ft is pretty slow, were you having traction problems? they are heavy cars though.
I think if you slapped on some semi slicks you'd pull a 13 pretty easily, so it seems like a pretty healthy example.
Should be a pretty quick car!

Nice.. I'm doing a very simular thing with my BA XR6T, gradual mods and dyno runs and quarter mile runs after each one.

Yeah man trying to get it off the line was so hard on street tyres, Cause I cant rev my car any more than 4000rpm when im sitting still. Its built into the computer.

And anyone who has ever driven a boss knows the power doesnt come on till around 3500 - 4000rpm.

So slipping the clutch dropped the revs below this and it was bogging down off the line.

I tried dumping the cluch on one run but ran a 14.8.....it spun all of first gear!!!

I'm not bagging your driving man :p. They're a heavy car and torquey up top, tough to get a good 60'.
An edit will get you into the 13s easily.

Sounds good, except for the SS TB and Intake. Leave the stock TB and fit a Bluepower (or G&D) airbox instead...

I'm not sure what you mean by

"6. Then get it custom tuned, NOT a flash tuner! A Ford edit."

The "edit" is a flash tuner :?

Anyway, keen to hear how it all works out. Keep us up to date :)

I think he means an edit with a custom tune, not a generic off the shelf tune.

Well Squeak,

Here's what I would do;

Pacemaker 4-2-1's
2 1/2" twin
BPT cold air
stock throttle body
BPT underdrives
BPT flash tune.
BPT plasma boost

BTW Ford will not reflash your PCM with anything other than a service update cal.

Cheers,
Pete.

Hey,

Bought an oil catch can on the weekend, So fitting it tonight, Ill take photos and post it up.

Its amazing how much oil gets pumped back into the engine!!!

I was shocked when I had a look inside, but its normal!!! They all do it is what im told.

Also ordering a set a CAPA 25% underdrives next week.

And with the tune, I ment get a custom one done live on a dyno, Not an off the shelf one.

Because now they are able to unock and turn off the torque control in the computer! Which makes a huge improvement!

And the reason I want to go difilipo extractors is because of the larger primarys and larger collector - 13/4 into 2.5 for pacemaker vs 17/8 into 3 for difilipo.

Whats the difference between the ss induction cold air intake to the G&D or BPT one?

Also whats the BPT plasma boost?

Yes the 5.0's do the same...an oil catch can or oil separator is a good move.
BPT are the original developer of Under drives for the Modular engine.
BPT have been able to unlock the torque control all along.
Larger primaries and 4 into 1's are only good if you are going to do high rpm and don't mind losing torque down low.
BPT Cold Air works best and costs less than the SS one.
The Plasma Booster multiple spark drives your stock coils.

Thanks heaps, The reason for the large exhaust system, is later down the track I want to supercharge it, and I dont want to have to do the exhaust twice. Also Ive got a small gas kit for it.....

Just looking at the underdrives, The capa ones seem like a better quality design, And there price is very reasonable.

Only other thing I was wondering, is with the oil catch can,
it seems people are only fitting it to the passenger rocker cover breather.

Why arnt they doing the same with the drivers side breather? Or are they and I just cant see it?

Im too scared to put Underdrives on mine just yet, as a fear of internal failure, ive heard both good and bad things about them.

Oh few things regarding crankshaft balance, and pumps and what not being "too" underdriven.

Mods i have done to mine are
BPT CAI
BPT POWER PIPE
BPT HELIX SPACER
BPT GENERIC TUNE
K&N Filter
PACEMAKER 4-2-1
dual 2 1/2 exhuast

Im looking into a set of gears next maybe 4.11's i dont know as yet.

Brakes are first on the list atm, as the poor old discs are only there way out.

Then as your intentions are, i want to add a Vortech v2 (intercooled) with all the goodies. But im doing all the little things first, so i dont have to do em later.

Ok cool,

The only thing I heard was the factory oil pump gears can fail.

But a set of billet oil pump gears fixes the problem.

I want to go a twin screw blower on mine.

But first things first.
