i put the AU ones on in place of my single davies craig fan, cause i got em for $40 instead of $300 and wanted to test em out,,, one has failed already due to the brushes wearing out,,,, a really really common problem,,, im gonna replace em with the volvo ones when i get some spare time,,, mmmmm cooling
the davies one kept it ok,, but the au ones sit slightly at a higher temp whilt running on full, and due to sitting higher and providing less cooling,, even with the 3pass radiator the duty cycle of the fans is much higher also, due to the thermo switch running an %80 cycle to provide cooling, as opposed to the 30 or 40% acheived by the VOLVO ones.

he also runs a 4 or more core desert cooler radiator,,,, not a stock I6 or 5L rad.

I ended up with new aftermarket EL twin thermos $180
and wiring loom / 5 relays / 2 sensors / 82 deg thermostat from Barry Batten (BPT) $305.
works great but huge voltage drop especially if Climate Control fan runs on high.
Can recommend the setup.

Richie.

speaks for itself really.

:) not to mention the fuel economy increase from 100litres per 10km to 90 litres per 10km.

BTW guys dont go buying an EEC-V to replace the V8 EEC-IV. Similar architechture with external trans control etc but different looms. Easy with a 6cyl as an EL EEC will fit ED, no go with V8

in that case, it dependson which 5L radiator your running,, a 1971 5L rad maby, but the newer windwor 5L radiators are fine infront of a 351cleveland and long as you got youself a decent fan. pretty high cap radiators.

That would have to be top fueller type fuel economy, care to repost what you really meant, how about 10ltrs per 100km to 9ltrs per 100km?

I had to go from a davis craig that couldnt cool s**t to a set of au fans. The aus are working a treat and that is in Sydney traffic so I can complain.
