Yes it is a worthwhile investment. Especially if you plan to tickle the engine a bit more later on.

I think its definately worthwhile. If you are planning to do any other work to the engine, it will allow you to get the most out of evey modification. From an exhaust and extractors, K&N filter and the 185kw EL XR8 base engine, when i put the unichip and ss induction system on, i got it up to 150rwkw. Looking at roller rockers and underdrive pulley set now, but iknow that when i do i can get that much more out of each modification. I am sure you will be happy with the results.

Best of luck with it, and tell me how you go with the dyno. I would be interested to see the results, and to find out what else the engine has running.

Cheers

Aftermarket ECU? Like what would you recommend then?
Ive been hearing a bit of talk about a 'Wold3D' ecu instead of a UniChip.. What is that about? Whats the diff?

If you can hang of for a while we are going to turbo an AU XR6 vct for a customer & I am looking at a piggy back ECU same functions as a Wolf 3D the EMS 8860 & heaps more than the GReddy but much cheaper, unfortunatly at this stage what I want isn't availble.
Wanted to get it ready for the dyno day, still waiting for parts !!
After this one will be LPG injection turbo, if I can talk him in to it ??, a fusion..

the EMS 8860 is awesome but no knock sensor bad! but if the tune si good u dont have to worry about it

SVO xr6 got one and he tunes it himself and boy gee does that thing go.

And even if you don't change anything; the EEC adaptive strategy will learn it's way around the changes. This is true of any piggy back device not just s**t.

Pete,
how are you coming along with support for my NL EEC 5 setup - how long do you think it will be roughly?
Shane
