Hey, I'm just wondering if you can get extractors that will fit BOTH the E7 heads, and GT40P's? I know the port bolt pattern is the same, but I beleve the spark plug angle is the issue. I want a set of extractors, but later down the track I want to get a set of GT40P's, hopefully I wont need to buy 2 sets of extractors.

EB-EL GT or 185kw EL headers, Hurricane or Advance all fit both.
Better still, get better heads than 40p's and you don't have this problem. |

Bugger that, what heads do you recommend Pete?
AFR 165's for a 5.0? Header wise, it depends what you want to spend

Yep, you can't go wrong with 165's especially the new renegade versions. Then you can use pacemakers on em:)

I dont think my budget will extend to AFR 165 heads, but it might extend to a better set of extractors, and maybe some 40p's down the track. If I went and got some AFR 165 heads, I would only be able to afford to run the standard 165kW headers and I couldnt afford a tune, which probably defeats the purpose of getting the AFR165's lol. So at this stage I'm looking at upgrading to GT40P's and possibly a set of EL 185kW extractors or possibly some different extractors.

im doing it atm,pacey extractors,test bolted to p40 heads tap here and there to make the bolts fit easy,plugs in for a look.had the y and extractors ceramic coated to pull the heat out,and no rust.new cats from summit.now porting the heads.there are some heads in forsale,i saw 2-3 sets

I've got a set of gt40p's in a Eb Xr8 with pacemaker ph4000's, without a little help from a bench vice they are an absolute prick to get on & off. Then you have to reverse one or two plug leads so the boots don't rub on the tubes of the extractors. Looks a bit funny at the dizzy end, but no big deal.
I'm pretty sure if you worked it out, you could ask for smaller boots at the plug end from a company like ICE when they make a set so they are all the same at the plug end. Cheers ToranaGuy

My advice is; Don't buy anything and save up for AFR 165 Renegade heads. AFR's with a stock HO intake and stock headers will still kick the a*** of 40p's and headers. and then you can get some Pacemakers.

I know this is a old thread and probably been covered before but I'm still a little confused. I have a 94 ed v8 gtp heads with advance headers that are a pain fitting one spark plug lead, like posted before at the moment I need to have the dizzy end on the spark plug. I'm going to get a set made from ice with a lead that has a 90 boot on both ends, my question is if I get that set made then get a set of afr heads and pacemakers will these leads be a drama. also is there any downside in getting all 8 with 90 boots?

Just get a set of leads with 45's when you get the AFR or other heads.

305 Chevy leads fit but they are a quite long. Best to rout them under the headers rather than in through the top.
