Hey all,
I have a BA Fairmont Ghia V8 that i took down the quarter the other day at WAW, my question is this, is 14.9 sec a good time? Has anyone else run their stock one down the qaurter and is willing to share their times for comparison? The only mods ive done are a cold air intake and put in bigger piping from the airbox to the throttle body. Cheers,

i think that is a fair time for the 3v motor.
I think they have overly long ratios in the diff. I think that a custom tune along with a diff ratio change would bring about a excellent change to that car. Throttle responce, economy and quarter mile too.

14.9? I'm honestly not sure on how quick a 220kw 5.4 is stock, but that seems slow IMHO, my AU XR8 went 14.7 stock and 14.3 with a mechanical diff centre....

Yeah i didnt think the time was that great either. Going to take out the LPG tank and subi then do some more runs and see what happens.

Stock you would be getting low 15s and might be just touching high 14s. These cars are very restrictive from factory and from memory I don't think fairmonts came with LSD which makes them s**t off the line :/

I remember the October 2002 Wheels did a 15.2 in a brand spankin BA Fairmont Ghia. I think your time is very good actually. Remember these things run a long diff ratio, no LSD and are heavy.

While I don't want to doubt you, thats the first time I've heard of a stock AU1 XR8 being that quick. Never really heard of one under 15.3 at best!

Sounds about right. It's a heavier car than the AU.

im agreed with everyone who said diff gears.
