I've just read an article in the latest Perth Street Car mag and there is an EF XR8 engine that had an Edlebrock Victor manifold put on and they needed to make custom fuel rails for it to fit.
I'm not going to have that problem with the Edlebrock Performer manifold am I? It does say on the Edlebrock site it is for stock replacement so I'm guessing it should be fine.

No the Performer 5L is fine with stock rails, I know a number of people with that manifold.

ED XR8 do you know how well the Performer and GT40P heads match up?
Is it something the workshop sorts out for perfect matching or are they already matched very well? I hope you know what I mean.

Cheers

They are matched pretty well, there is no real need to port match them closer unless you are searching for every last kw.

It will depend on how much port matching will cost. I will ask the question when it comes to it.

Thanks ED XR8.

Timmeh

The following link shows a bit of a shootout between some of the more popular intake manifolds:

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/574.shtml

Unfortunately they dont specify which Edelbrock manifold they used... I'd hazard a guess and say it was the Performer 5L.

Note with the stock intake the low average flow and also the large differential between ports, compared to, say the Edelbrock with much higer flow and lower differential between ports.

Excellent. I didnt know you can get GT 40 intakes I thought they were just the heads. It stands to reason that a GT 40 would have GT 40 heads and intake though

Thanks 4.9 EF Futura

ED XR8 and 4.9 EF Futura are some of the most helpful on this site. Its Appreciated guys.

Yes it was the Performer but the original one. The current design flows around 10% more.

Hahahaha. Allo allo allo
I've just rung a place about an Edlebrock Performer EFI 5.0L. I'm just waiting on a call back for price. I think the Performer is the way to go.

I just need to source some second hand GT40P heads. Everything else I can get hold of.

Would really be worth looking at Shanes Cobra manifold, I run a Cobra and IMO they are great. Tons of the US guys run them with 4-500hp engines, they develop plenty of low down torque while breathing a lot up high too. The other advantage is that you don't need to buy a EGR spacer like most other manifolds which will save you around $150.

ACT is the air charge temp sensor. Aussie falcons have this tapped into the (lower?) manifold, makes life easier if your replacement manifold has the same kind of fitting - not all ford manifolds were created equally.

EGR is the exhaust gas recirculation valve. If you look at your current intake, there is a 'spacer' between the throttle body and the upper manifold. This is an EGR spacer, contains the valve (and position sensor I believe) - the cobra manifold shane is selling has this inbuilt... therefore no need to find/fit a compatible EGR spacer - it's already there!
