I have an XH (EL) xr8 ute and i want to either get a new motor, or get work done to the stock windsor. Dont want to spent too much money at this stage as the long term plan is to strip ute down and fully restore and then big $ on motor... any help would be great as i am not at all mechanicaly minded!

Fit an AU XR8 200kW engine. Any more HP & you need to change a bunch of expensive parts as well as the engine

if your going to rebuild it at a later date dont worry about it for now, i see no point if you already have planned something else

As for power upgrades it depends what you want to spend... Easy upgrades are headers, good exhaust and intake and a retune. Going beyond this means opening the engine & upgrading parts. I suggest speaking to Jeff at Streetbuilt Racing, XH5LTWPN on this forum and discuss what they can do for you.

cheers for the help guys! i found it on carsales and had it trucked over from bendigo last month. always wanted an xh ex8 but could never find one. its auto with 135,000ks, drives like new and sounds good with the exhaust. shame its not manual, but its will be in the near future.
