The only thing I will say is that I have heard alot of bad things about pro comp but I got to be honest its always been "I know a guy" I have never heard it from someone who actually brought it.

People knock it because its called "Procrap" for a reason!!! I know guys that have run it, heads cranks, rockers, valve train gear "carbies" and i won't even go into the dramas i have seen first hand. If you run it, its your own fault when things go pear shaped. I'm not even interested in listing things that i've seen with this product, just head the warnings.
There is so much info on the net about the problems people have, so use the search button. If you like the product, run it. I don't car who uses the product, as long as it ain't in/on my engine anywhere.
This is the last thing have to say on the product!!

I would argue that Yates are the best, but i couldnt justify the cost so i currently have Trickflow Twisted Wedge 225's.

Vic, when did you build a motor, and how come i have seen nothing about it. Do a Garage write up please.
Brett

Hey Brett, it was built in '07 and I slipped it into my Ghia.
What you see in my gallery is what gets around on the street.

well built two motors with pro comp gear there stroker kits and there heads and the are ok they are bugdet for a reason and you need to know what parts to use in the heads and what parts to balance the bottom end kit with.. i have proof that the bottom end kits ...their rods and their cranks come out of the same factory as eagale stuff in the raw state its all down too the preping work and machining... by the time you spend the time and money on them to get up to decent level they the same price in the end as the dearer stuff... but if you want a cheap low power motor no problem but no good for high power work if you need your procomp stuff set up let me know as they are made to run differant rockers and the heads are more like trickflow with out the canted valves have seen these stroker kits and their heads on windsors run 470 horses on a efi motor but thats with heap of finishing work on the rotating assembly to get them there and some maching work on the heads to take the right springs

I've seen the horrible (lack of)quality of these parts first hand. For example crank throws hollowed on the piss such that the journal is paper thin!?!, crank snouts being too short by about 15mm!?! Massive core shift in the heads, valve seats not concentric with guides and the list goes on!
They do come out of the same factories....they are the rejects of the likes of scat, eagle etc
If you're a cheapskate and don't want do anything properly and don't want anything to last you know what to use.

AFR's in australia are pretty steep gonan try see if i get import them to my door for less than 2400 if possible they stingin 600 for delivery.

With a bit of clever thinking there should be no need to be tempted by Procomp gear. And I mean no offence to VPW or Rocket etc, they gotta make a quid but there's a lot to be saved on imported premium gear.

For example, any number of speed shops in the states have Trickflow twisted wedge heads for SBF for US$1200/pair which at todays AU$1/US$0.80 is only AU$1500. The problem is the US$600/AU$750 delivery fee since UPS stopped surface mail back in '07. Thats still AU$2250 landed on my door and you got to be careful with customs and duty obligations when they arrive. Anything over $1000 attracts duty/tax. When I rang one of the above Oz companies two months ago they said $2950, maybe do a bit better, etc etc.

I'm working on finding surface shipping companies I can call when I want something and coordinate my small package into one of their containers just as the doors are shutting. I've heard stories (haven't we all  ) of 70kilo for $US100. Get clever with delivery names and private addresses so that multiple packages are legally declared at under the threshhold and all should be well. A pair of Trickflows at AU$900 each max? Not bad!

Another option is shipping a whole 20' container. These can be had from the west coast of the states to Sydney for as little as US$3000, which is CHEAP if you've got enough individual punters all buying their multiple small items that satisfy customs at this end. Thirty blokes and their partners all buying one head each and we're there. The bloody container would be three quarters empty! Forget Procomp!

I was reading an article about a 347 stroker using pro comp heads (after using scat/probe internals :?: ) that was supposed to make 400hp...funny thing was they never dyno'd the engine in the article....
