I am about to install a Milodon windage tray to my Windsor. The instructions are vague.
Question is? How close should the tray be to the rotating mass. Is closer better or will it still function correctly with say 1/2 inch clearance.

Cheers Richard.

Main part is that it sits between oil in sump and crank..
To stop windage from picking up oil in sump..
Same with crank scrapers..
They are fitted yes to separate oil off crank ..
Also to prevent oil splashing up side of sump & engine..
Both can work very well with large clearances..
The closer the better..
Mine is about 12mm clearance...Deep sump though..

Thanks for the info. I will leave the tray install as is.
It is not an easy job to fit a windage tray in the car. It is hard to see what clearance is there.
As i am using a Bronco sump I had to use the Milodon pick up which means I have to have the sump made 40mm deeper to accommodate the pick up. Always something to drag a job out.
