got a xt ba falcon ute with a worn out barra 220 3v engine and the 4 speed auto does also need replacing .it only has 63000 klm on the clock but i think the car yard has done the dirty on me .i bought it with 47000 klm on the clock and since then given the ute a complete paint job ,new springs front and new leafs to back new shocks and all bushes replaced with nolathane ,new diff with 3.9 ratio and a new truetrack lsd .cold air intake and a new throttle body ss vortex. and a cat back xforce twinn exhoust stainless steel .it ran a 15.02 at willowbank  very embarrassing when it is only .400 faster than a standard na 6 falcon . the problem is i still owe a lot of money on the ute after spending $12500 to buy it then $5000 on paint and $3000 on diff $300 to get tray powder coated and $200 on led lights and $2500 on suspension and camber kits. everyone said to get rid of it but if i am lucky i would only get $6000-$7000 as a trade in .thats why i would love to fit a fg turbo engine with a 6 speed auto . i would do most of it my self and just buy a wrecked donor car .what problems could i face doing this conversion ? ps have owned ute for 2 years now .and what would u guys do ,just cut my loses and move on or just fit another v8 or fit the turbo 6 ?

Fit another V8. Your looking at $5k+ to fit a turbo 6.

stick with a similar V8 as you have ALL the stuff for it AND it will be an easier swap for you [plus shuld be less $$ in the long run] and remember the $$$ spent

also make sure on where you put ya inquire's as the mods get a little stroppy sometimes when say a V8 query gets put in a 6 cylinder section

what makes you so sure the engine is worn?

could it be something else like it just needs a good service with new fluids and plugs etc?

it will be cheaper and easier to find another 3v and 4spd than putting in a turbo6

if its tuned those mods should see a 13.5 or so pass.

get it checked as somthing isnt right with the motor and could be a easy fix.

after i bought the ute i changed the oil (full of aluminium fillings ,plastic ,black carbon )and the oil was like syrup when i drained it.when i replaced it with penrite hpr 10 the engine started to have a timing chain rattle and a big end knock .i then went back to dealer that i bought ute from but they tolled me to f off. it also only held 5 litres of oil before it went to over full mark on the dip stick.pulled sump of and found it had about 1litre+ of sludge in it (black tar like and lots of metal and plastic bits) after taking throttle body of found that the intake manifold had black oil in it about100 ml of it that i could see with a inspection camera. now thats with 47000 klm on the clock (bought it of a reputable ford dealer in caloundra ) that was the second falcon ute i bought of them never again. the auto also does not lock the stall converter up .driving along the engine changes up to 1500 rpm it feels like its got a 3500 rpm stall in it but it does not

hey mate, i have one of these motors with 220000 the thing is indestructible sounds like you got taken for a ride, as people up here said, with those mods, and a tune you should get into 13's, they are a torquey motor with plenty of power ready to be unleashed, just a little heavy on petrol :D

i think it has done a lot more klm than what the speedo says .it had two warn ball joints shocks were stuffed .the diff was full of grease to keep it from making any noise .i have spend way to much money on it to get it reliable .before i bought it i had taken it to a racq inspection centre and got it all checked out. they said it was good as gold ,cant even trust them .still to this day do not know how it got a road worthy with stuffed ball joints(they moved up to 5 mm)
