Almost, you'll need to use the XH(or EL) EEC and put a distributor in the AU engine.

you could get a t5 and get it rebuilt to handle the power. will be cheaper than buying a new t56 if u have to

Hi guyz,
Its been awhile to update this build iv recently brought a nf fairlane 5ltr
I have just removed the engine that ill be fitting in my xh xr6 ute i will be running a t5 manual transmission.
What i have got:
Complete 302 Windsor with complete engine bay wiring harness
T5 manual transmission with bellhousing
Clutch fork, clutch cable, excedy hd clutch kit and flywheel
Manual engine ecu
So my next step is to remove the complete wiring harness and fit to the xh just wondering if i can just swap the auto transmission harness and fit my existing i6 manual harness and joint it to the v8 harness, also will i need to get a tune after fitting the v8

Im interested in why engineering is such a hassle.

For these utes, given that they were available in the V8, wouldnt engineering be relatively simple?

Engineering wise it *should* have been a simple inspect, plate, and go? - or is WA that much harder than here?

Pete was on the right track with the later EFI 5.8's.

Yer im not really fussed with getting it engineered for the sake that i will be fitting a 5ltr efi out of a nf fairlane and i only just need to get it inspected and adjustment of records to make sure its not dangerous and to change the engine number. just need some info on the wiring harness part since fairlanes only came with auto transmissions and ill will be fitting a manual transmission to the 5ltr and iv only got the auto complete harness.
My ute is a xhII xr6 factory manual am i able to just use the manual harness part that originally came with my ute and join to the v8 harness.

Regards Gavin
