Posted this in the ECU section but got no love so I thought I'd try here.

My XH XR8 is giving codes 327 and 332 during KOER which both refer to the EGR, but the XH XR8 doesn't have an EGR?!? Whats the story here, is it possible the ECU has been replaced with an EL XR8 unit? The catch code is 7TAA.

I cant seem to get it into base timing mode either, my 6cyl XH will enter base timing mde after outputing the codes but the XR8 doesn't budge. Is there something I'm missing thats different with the v8 to the i6?

has the EGR been deleted?. if so then its gona spit those error codes untill you get a chip and overide those codes. Dont worry about the codes if you dont have an egr spacer, with coolant lines and valve. They mean s**t

Timing is done by bridging the diagnostic port to the negative terminal. start up the car, let it settle down and adjust your timing within a 2min gap and thats it.

From what I've read XH XR8's came without the EGR from the factory, there's nothing running to the EGR spacer other than coolant.

I'm quite familliar with setting the timing on an XH, but it appears this doesn't want to go into base timing mode. I've read somewhere in one of the many places I've searched this issue, thatthe codes I'm getting can prevent it from going into base timing mode.

XH's do have EGR from the factory because they are essentially the same as an EL.

Essentially the same, but not exactly. Here's some pics of the EGR spacer front and back - I really doubt that this car has been modified and I've seen pics of other XH XR8 engines with the EGR blanked off.

That's interesting. It's the first XH I've seen like that. It's easy to tell if it was factory or not...there'll be an EVP connector lying in the harness just there if it wasn't factory. Sure is strange that it has coolant lines though.

Found a pic of Jeff's (XH5LWEPN) engine when it was basically stock (hope he doesn't mind me borrowing it). Same blank off plate on the EGR.
