HI i have a 92 ebs xr8 and wanted to know if i could put an xr8 sprint motor in, car is an automatic.
My current motor is making noises very loudly since i changed my oil last week, i am using 15/40w GTX3.

Last but not least would it be cheaper to source the sprint parts instead of fitting the motor.

Thanks Brad

Probably cheaper to get another E series windsor and get some GT40P heads for it and an Explorer manifold. Then you pretty much got a Sprint motor.

Do it up while its not in the car and then engine swap.

What they said, except exchange "GT40P" with "AFR165" and "Explorer" with "Performer" and chuck "2030" or "TFS1" in there as well.

A few issues for ya..
Firstly finding a sprint motor that does not have a car attached to it may be a challenge!.
Also the engine management settings (different EEC-IV), injectors, MAF etc are all different to the std XR8. How about just ditch the EB and buy a ED sprint..! I know where there is a nice polly green manual for sale..!

What sort of noise is your engine making?

I doubt you will be able to find a sprint motor. I think you would be better off with the AFR's, TFS manifold & 70mm T/B, 75mm MAF and some bigger injectors.

try putting a thicker oil back in.. also inspect the old oil(from the change u just did aswell as this one) for bits of metal.

if not, au heads and manifold is better than what sprint had, and alot cheaper than afr165s

Hi

Yeh the oil has been changed 3 times and made jack of a difference, when i bought the car (from an idiot member off of here) the oil was as black as crude oil. The sound started appearing about a month ago when i got my licence back and started driving it.

The sound is like getting a jar full of coins and rattling it, also i have changed plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor button, oil, oil filter, petrol filter(off a bloody holden) and since i changed all of that, car was disconnected for about an hour and a half and it wont idle properly and stalls when first starting the car in the morning.

Thanks Brad
