it is illegal once the car is in motion once the car is stopped ie pulled over with the ignition OFF it is legal talked to an officer once and he told me that so when you see these people with underglow and driving around that's a defect!

not allowed to have blue or red lights attached to anywhere on the front of your vehicle.

or on any part of car.

bought the missus blue lights to go on valve cap on her laser. and the cops pulled her over, and said she ant have them on. then i asked what was the go, he said all blue or red lights on cars are banned while the car is in motion.

so if car is in motion, yes they are illegal

if the car is being driven on public roads or road related areas, eg carparks. the only light that can be emitted from that vehicle are white from the front, amber at the side, and red from the rear. the exception to these are indicators & reverse lights. And if its classed as a heavy vehicle it may have amber/red side maker lights. thats how it was explained to be by a cop. I've looked into it since and, yep, thats how it goes. Any other coloured light is illegal.

Underbody lights here in WA are perfectly legal as long as they conform to the requirements listed in the attached document
