Hi,

Is there any reason that the LSD diff out of an ED XR6 cant be swapped into an XG Ute?

the centre can be swapped over but the complete diff wont as the ed is coil spring suspension and the xg is leaf spring

Cheers that was fast! Does it matter that the XG currently has an open diff? Do the ratios need to be the same?

If it's an ed xr6 sedan then as above, as there's a few edxr6 wagon rare but exist.

Ratio change will put your speedo out, it'll require the speed drive gear out of the gearbox changed, not hard though, just awkward.

It is coming from a sedan, does it make a difference that I also plan on installing the ED XR6 cluster?

The sedan is being used for parts, they are both automatics, can I take the speed drive gear from this?

Nah mate you'll still need the speedo drive gear out of the sedan, not sure interchangeability sedan- ute cluster wise.

Sorted then! I guess it helps having a whole car to take parts off :-)

Thanks heaps Troyman and Ozbmx!

Did this swap in my xg with the diff, didnt change speedo reading, as you would need to change the size of the wheels to make a change at the speedo,

Oh ok... Well I was planning on fitting a set of 18s. Can I go somewhere to have the speedo corrected?

Did you take any other parts of an ED XR6? For example are the seats interchangeable?

I had a benchy and put xh bucket seats in so I couldn't see the ed one's being any different and go to an automatic shop and they will sort out the speedo drive gear at the gearbox for ya but the 18's would only put the speedo about by about say 2k but the speedo's are already out from the factory so would't hurt to get it checked.

mate what do you mean it didn't change the speedo reading the wheels are doing more rpm than they were the motor and gearbox are still spinning at the the same rpm's.
whether it's a noticeable amount well, it may be minor but, if you have the part you may aswell do it.
18's depends what size tyre you put on, can't answer without a profile and width, to work out your sidewall height.

yes correct, but the speedo is out by about 4k from the factory, by increasing diff speed you are correcting this at the speedo from standard diff ratio, but as the wheel gets bigger the ratio goes further apart once again, but as i said like the change would like 2k at the most. but as you said with profile of the tyre will also change the ratio.
