my car has been running a bit sick lately so i thought id change the fuel filter etc.

anyway after changing the filter i tipped out the fulke that was left in it, the fuel came out balck, so i put some injector cleaner in her and shes running a bit better, the car stalls from time to time and i though it may be air leaks, so i went arounf the manifold inlet and the bolts were only done up finger tight, thinking this was the root of my problem, however the car is contnuing to stall on the odd occasion, does anyone have any idea of what might be the cause?

cheers, shaggy

it may sound funny but make sure the dipstick is all the way in and oil cap is tight , also check that all the clamps on the inlet piping from the airbox are tight aswell .

apparntly it's a clip or something on the carby that breaks to cause that. mate's xf did that just before he sold it!

i lived with a friend who had herself a BEAUTIFUL XF Fairmont Ghia - 250 EFI.

it would stall all the time too / periodically.

what i ended up doing for her, was buying some carby clean, and cleaning the inside of the throttle body out - pulling a couple of the vac lnes that run off from it too(just pulled the ends off one by one to clean it then straight back on again)

worked like a charm, never stalled again

(the carby cleaner moved some seriously black s**t from the TB and vac lines too...)

Have a look at the following posting if you haven't already. About a page back or so. Could not figure out how to reference it :(

XF 4.1 EFI Surging under acceleration.

Spent over $k because of a $1 bit of s**t rubber........

COULD BE A PERTH THING
