Hey, I've got a 4 speed XF Borg Warner box, and I want to put it into my XF which is currently a 4.1 EFI auto. Here's a list of the parts I think I'll need, have I missed anything?

The gearbox itself
gear lever, boot & knob
clutch
clutch cable
pedal box
tailshaft
bellhousing
crossmember
clutch fork/thruster bearing

Any tips/hits for this conversion will also be appreciated.

I think that should do it.

Also, a couple more gearbox related questions: I always thought that "Borg Warner" was an autralian company, but after reading that the T5 in an american transmission, I'm not so sure, can someone please clear this up?

Roughly how much would each of these gearboxes weigh:

BW40 Auto
4 speed XF Borg Warner box (are these a BW Single Rail?)
and last but not least, the T5.

Cheers, Gab

you'll also need the trans tunnel "hump" and the rubber boot that goes on it, not just the boot on the console

Ok, thanks Interceptor, I know about the inner boot, but what exactly is the gearbox "hump" ? does that mean I'll hafta cut out a section of the floor & weld a section of floor in from a manual? because that is something I'd rather avoid. I've looked at where a manual comes through the floor & where an auto comes through the floor and they both look the same.

I think BTR (Borg Warner) are an Australian company. The T5 is built by many companies, including BTR and Tremec + more depending on location.

Much like anything else different companies are licensed to build other companies products, and royalties are paid.

No, the hump is a little bolt in piece usually painted black which screws to the tunnell.
YOu will also need the console as it is different to an auto one.
Yoiu will need a flywheel and the bolts which are longer than the flex plate bolts.
You will need a spigot bearing for the end of the crankshaft.
And don't forget to bypass the auto lockout switch or it won't start.

I have a 3spd column shift manual and I would really like to install a 5spd gearbox into the ute.

What costs am I looking at? Is there a place that can do this for me?

Thanks
