Have found a GS bonnet for my XC fairmont for $700. Does this seem a fair price? Bonnet is excellent condition.

not sure wat gs means is it a gt bonnet with the scoops as i've been looking on and off on ebay for one to mod my eb and they seem to go for $150 with some rust too around $400 in really good nick,if its the same colour and doesn't need painting it could be a fair price i suppose.

Does it have the lock down pins? If it doesnt have pins ..(XC's didnt have em).. it is definately way overpriced. !
If it does have pins it will be an XB one (which is ok) but it is still to high priced !....Ive seen decent ones go for $300 - $400

finding one without rust is a good find!!. if it is clean, id would pay 800 for it easy. but paint can cover a lot. have a good look at the front of the bonnet, under the front lip

Hmm XB GS i have some nice swamp land I would like to sell you! LOL But seriously Matthew , do check those areas for rust. If it is really smick offer him $500. See what he says. Check ebay too! P.S. My brother in law just had an XB GT/GS bonnet given to him! Lucky hey

Then its not worth anything close to $700. more like $200 tops, they just dont get the money like the XB GT ones do!.Check ebay , Just Parts magazine etc... You will find good bonnets there at a better price

XC has scoops but no pins, XB GT and XB GS have scoops and have pins

To think many years ago I gave away a perfect XC GS bonnet away (Because it didn't have the pins) and a little rusted XB GT/GS, LOL but this was when you could pick them up in perfect form for around $160 (LOL early 90's).
I even chopped one up for the scoops to try to make a big single, I failed by the way with both the combining the two die cast scoop insert and welding the sheet metal together. It was going onto a MkII/BC Escort bonnet, another unfinished project, did you know 265/50/14 tyres fit under the rear on on of those if you mini tubbed, a little guard rolling and had the right offset.
