hello all..
i have a 95 xg with 222,200km on the clock last owner had a jims home mowing service and towed a trailer everywhere with it had a new head gasket at 200 thou and i was told it has over size rings in it, i am a new driver first car id like to put some of the life back into it and change it to a 5 speed,

ive seen 5 speed "kits" on ebay but they are all different :?: some kits have the ecu, some dont others have the longer tailshaft as the 5 speed is shorter then the auto, other kits have the centre consol as the shifter is in a slightly different position then the auto, some have the bellhouseing aswell...
i was wondering what the list is of bits that do need to be changed? i know this wouldent be the first time this has been asked.. would it be better to just find a donor 5 speed xg or chase the part sepretly?
cheers

Acquire parts from any (6cyl) E series.

An XG is essentially a EB/D. with an XF body.

Any XF (T5) with a E series 4.0 bell housing will fit.

Try to get a EB11 -> EL T5 as they're a refined box.
Don't dismiss the EA T5's tho. they wtill work very well (especially in a workhorse ute)

You'll be able to utilize your existing tail shaft.
You'll need a 3DAC (or similar ECU) or a resistor mod to suit the manual.
