Ok the old 6 in my 75 XB has finally s**t the biscuit so have been thinking about pulling the series 2 apart and dumping the engine trans and running gear in the B to update it abit.

just wondering how hard this would be to do and if someone has done it before

ok... If you use XF mounts and the complete loom from the EA it should be sweet.. as being an ea with out smartlock you have less issues... the only issues i can see is getting the dash to work correctly with speedo and alike. I have heard of people doing something like this somewhre just a matter of searching and research

k thanx for the info.

dont need to worry bout the loom and such and the current plan is to take out the CFI carb and replace it with an XF carb and XE Dizzy to bomb out the need for the ECU.

didnt even think of the engine mounts.

well you use use a carby on the cfi manifold, it should be simple as a plug and play moment.. but what gearbox are you running or going to run

ahh great so you shouldn't have any dramas,, only thing would be tailshaft related but I dare say that the ea shaft would be long enough also I also dare to say that the splines from your XB.. I think with the dizzy it should be right to run an XF dizzy (pre- EFI).

cool was thinking bout retaining tghe original driveshaft as i think tit might be a lil stronger than the Ea.??

had a word to the boys at aussie spare down the road (am in new zealand btw) and he said basically the same thing about the dizzy but to get hold of an XE dizzy and take the cog off the bottom of the shaft and turn it round and I should be good.

just thought i might consault you guys and see if he and I had it right.

I would just plug and play an XF one as they are closer to the EA then XE (if iam lead to beleive).

I don't know what the difference is with efi to carby but the CFI dizzy as (one or two) contact points to help tell the injector to fire. the MPFI has 6 points to again help tell the injecter to fire.

So i assume that the carby dizzy has no points as no injectors on, but was the XB a points dizzy or electric? should have a look and compare the spline off the two when it comes to installing or swapping you never know the XB one might fit into the EA block? (feel free to correct me boys)
