I have an 86 xf s pak. The speedo is very eratic, illegal, i am told that it is the gear cog in the back of the dash that is broken .Any one know where i can get another one from in brisbane, if not where.?

I imagine your best bet would be your local wrecker and just get a second hand instrument cluster and swap the whole cluster over. Shouldnt cost you 2 much as there are plenty around
Also try putting a post on xfalcon.com. Im sure someone there would have a spare cluster for an xf.

I did think of that however i would like to go new as idont want to be pulling the cluster down in another 3 months.

You could try your local ford dealerships but i dont like your chances. They dont have much of anything for xf's now

Got one off of Byrne ford in chermside.They told me on the phone $7.40. When i got there they charged me $10.00. I told the guy i was quoted $7.40, the old guy said "I could charge you $20.00 if you want."if i did not need thi part i would have thrown it back at him.

ive had a crappy alternater do erratic things to the speedo before , you sure its not that

My speedo in my XF does this aswell, looks like I better pull the dash out & check that gear

If it was the alternator, i think there would be other symptoms as well, lights not working properly, poor starting etc. but that,s all fine.
