G'day, I'm going to be making an offer to buy a complete P6 LTD that's a write off due to rear damage. The only parts that will be removed is the 351, FMX, 9" and power steering box.

Neither of us are sure what this will be worth really, what do you guys think would be a reasonable offer for the P6 minus the engine, diff, g/box and PS box?

Here's a some photo's of it's condition:

There's a fair few pics there. I also have pics of the dash, but close up ones of individual bits of it.

It's in pretty good condition for its age, the exterior doesn't have too much if any visible rust, the interior is very good, only being let down by the state of the leather, which is a bit cracked and a bit hard.

Apparently the guy who owns it paid $1000. Going off that amount, what would you guys pay for it taking into consideration the whole drive line including the engine isn't up for grabs.

Thanks for any help :)
Luke

It's currently out the back of the owner of a limo company, he has dozens of cars, the hardest part will be moving them all to get it out.

I'll be putting it on a tandem to take it to my garage though, that's the main way I move cars now, $50 plus petrol. I've moved cars that way over greater distance for $100.

Although I remember having my XC moved from my house and a DA I was half way through wrecking from a house further away than mine to 'my garage' on two trucks and that was only about $150 or so, which is pretty reasonable, the total distance was probably 100 kays..

nice, honestly hard to give suggestion on value of a car that's damaged, other than get it as cheap as you can but a p6 LTD, from the photo's in excellent condition, i'd say it's worth a bit.
is it repairable or to badly to bother repairing?

When you say writeoff is it on books as a writeoff?

Yeah it is, the insurance company apparently wouldn't repair it.

It has damage to the left hand rear, not too much visible but apparently the doors have a bit more trouble closing than they did before, so the chassis has probably sustained too much damage to bother with, the cost of fixing it would be more than most people who have an interest in a car like this would have.

EDIT
He's also offering an XD panel van that's suitable only for mechanical parts.

It has a 302C that'll need a rebuild, unknown auto (probably a C4) and unknown diff.
Does anyone know what diff would be fitted to an XD with a 302?

What are 302s worth is 'original' condition (looks pretty intact, but as I said it would need work).

Diff should be a 2.92 Borgy, Auto should be C10 not C4,C4 is a six pot box. If dipstick tube goes into the side of the pan it's a C10, If it goes in the top its a C9. As far as the LTD goes if he paid a grand for 351, FMX & 9 inch the rest owes jack. It's only value to him is it's crush value. Regards TPVM.

I bought a ZH Fairlane for basically the same parts 2 years ago - paid $500. That had a 351 recond 40,000 km's ago, FMX and 9 " disc rear - funnily enough, r/h rear quarter damaged - and lotsa rust. Paid $500 for it, took running gear , mags and a bunch of little stuff, sold off the shell for $500 - so basically got all my bits for nothing...given that ZH's and P6's are fairly closely related (other than P6 front is worth a few bucks) that should give you a bit of an idea..
Haven't seen one for a while, but have seen plenty of P6 front clips going around the $350 mark...

Oh sorry, I just re-read your post...didn't realise you aren't getting the running gear...if no running gear, I'd be offering maybe 2-300 for it?

I wouldn't offer more than 300 for it, considering it has no running gear in it.

Cheers

Looks like leather interior in pretty good nick. That would have to be worth something to the right person. I have a set of tags from a P6 that I bought for running gear about 10 yrs ago. Wasnt written off, just really rusty.

Yeah, I reckon I'm only interested in the front and rear seats, door trims, and doors now. But even then the rear seats will need some work to be fitted, and the rear doors are longer than the standard Falcon doors, so the trims will have to be shortened to suit.

Still in casual negotiations about the price for that gear.
