I'M hopping someone could put some light on my little prob.
I recently pulled out the carbied 250 and put in the zl injected 250. I didn't keep the injection due to no wiring harness. More that i had no time. So i'm running the carby and dizzy of the non injection 250. During this change over that i made, I noticed that the dizzy are set differently.
My question is: Is the injection dizzy set up to help run the injection system? or are the cams set differently in the injected engines :?:

First off, welcome to Ford Mods
Is your car a manual? Running on unleaded?
I had an '86 S Pack manual with the carbied 250 years ago and had to replace the dizzy. The ones from an auto were different, the EFI ones were different as well. But what really got me, was the pre ULP (<1986) ones were different again!! :? After much searching through wrecking yards I finally found a carbied, post '86, manual, carb fed XF with a decent dizzy in it.
Unfortunately I don't know the answer to your question, it bugged the hell out of me back then too. I doubt it's to aid the injection. The cam setup would be my guess, but I'm not 100% on that either.

There were a couple of different carby dizzy. One was a stand alone type electronic dizzy with vacuum and mechanical advance. The other was more like the EFI dizzy, in that it relied on a computer to control the spark. I beleive they came in around the 1987 update.

from feb 1986 to march 1993 ford went unleaded (ADR rule change) and they went EST ignition for the carbied models. to set the timing on EST models you have to put it into diagnostic mode (abit like E series and the current model falcons) if its a carbied unleaded model (indicator side repeaters in the front bar) you'll need to change the whole engine bay loom if your going EFI.
