xf never came with multi point injection.

the XG which was essentially a cosmetic upgrade of the xf ute did however.
not entirely sure what'd be involved but the motors are cheap and wrecks are plentiful for wiring etc if he was willing to convert the whole motor

Your looking for an E2 casting I think its called.

There is a small dove in each inlet port for the injector. At some point I believe all of the XF's ended up with them (very late perhaps). There was also an MPI XE, however the head was leaded not ULP

All XF utes/vans were carby.......right up until the XG ute/van came out.
The sedans & wagons were optional with MPFI.....std on Ghia's and Fairlanes & LTD's.

FAIL!

XE Fairmont Ghia and Fairlane were the first to come with a EFI multipoint 4.1

not to mention that the carby heads on the xe/f had injector bosses? C1/2/2a and E1/2 and D heads are all compatible with a inj engine. just depends on wat CR you want because the heads varie.

your mate would be better of converting it too an e series MPFI engine.

My ex wife had a XF Ghia with the MPI engine, it was the worst engine I'd ever come across.

I have just converted carby engine in mine to MPFI using the intake and associated wiring loom from ZL Fairlane. Wasnt that hard but did lots of reading first. Have since converted to EB ECU and sensors using a pod filter behind the passenger headlight. Massive improvement all round, good idle and starts first crack every morning.
