I've purchased an '91 XF ute but the door or ignition keys do not open the lock on the spare tyre compartment underneath. I was going to drill it / rip it out and install a new locking mech but I don't want to do it until I have a new lock and I also don't want to damage the locking mechanism while I'm destroying the old lock. I've searched the internet to buy a suitable one but can't find any info on the spare tyre compartment. Does anyone have pic's they can post of an open compartment so I can see how the securing mechanism works please. Will a standard door lock do the trick? Any info is much appreciated....
