Here is a breif note for people that wanted this for the weekend,

How to give your standard fuel regulator that bit more presure,

Tools Needed,

Fuel Presure gauge,
Long Reach socket, about 10mm should do
Small hammer, (to big and you will stuff it)

Locate your fuel reg ,Normally near the MAP sensor at the firewall end of the inlet Manifold,

Fit pressure gauge to fuel line and check the pressure,
and with turn of the engine and remove the vacume line going to the REG, and fit the long reach socket over the top of the line fitting and give it light taps, (NOT TO HARD) as you cant go back,
Reconect the vacume line and recheck the pressure,
If its not what is required, Start the process again,

Remember this mod is better if you take your time,

If you don't have a small hammer you can use multi grips on it, and use your Ford Power hands,

I hope this helps those people that wanted this for the weekend

maybe in a real old dunger, but i dont think a whole lot of people will be keen on the idea.

good idea though

So it just increases the spring pressure against the diaphragm yeah?

Makes sense.

Have you done it to a Later model reg? got the same results?

Yes all it is doing is putting more tension on the spring,
The idea was given to me buy a EFI Expert, I was going to buy a reg of him, and he said this mod is basicly what they have done for the XR6
I have not done it to anything else but the EB to ED Falcons,

I have done around 20 so far

scotty

well, now i look at it, it seems a little more plausable.

only thing is im not really keen on modding it if it means i need to go get a pressure gauge for the fuel rail. i may as well get a second hand one from somewhere

but yes, very interesting mod. well done

is the small increase in pressure worth it in such a back yard style job?

i can see its purpose tho,
interesting.

Well I know when i went to go and get a reg with a higher rating, it was not easy to find and they wanted good money for it, and the XR6 regs are now no longer available from ford,

SO yes it is worth it as it costs nothing to do

And also the pressure reg is only there whilst you do the adjustment, It does not stay there

You can get them rather cheap from places like supercheap and stuff, and its always a good tool to have,

maybe i should get some second hand ones and sell them, as a exchange unit,
or as a straight swap + postage

mate, i'd be supprised if you couldn't make a fiver or two doing a exchange thing in your spare time, if they work how you say.

i'd give it a go, hell people on this site would kill for a cheap one!

tell you what, i'll see how much a reg will cost and concider getting one and giving it a whirl. what size ends am i looking for?
