It can be done, but it a right royal PITA *ask datamine* and not worth it on a standard motor

Not really a PITA (datamine was doing it the hard way ;)), just need to spend ~600 on an chiptorque or edit, or convert to LPG.

I didn't do it the hard way, much cheaper than ~600 too.

But yeah not recommended for stock engines. Your power curve will be falling by the stock rev limiter anyway. Get a nice big lumpy cam, balanced bottom end, then a rev limiter adjustment may help.

Although its cheaper Im not sure why you say its not the hard way (certainly not the way i would suggest someone go about it unless they knew their s**t). And yeah paying $600 for a chip if it only removed the limiter is expensive, but you are getting more than that.

But as you said, even a cammed I6 will make peak power 500rpm before the limiter cuts in so you need a pretty good engine to justify it.

My RPD cammed I6, still didn't peak at the 6250 rpm limit I set. I wasn't going to take it any further.
