ok, so i put a new box in and all was good, then 2nd started hard shifting

never had time to fix it so i decided to leave it for a week, stupidly...
now i have no 2nd gear or 4th gear

it selects the gears, but wont engage them, so i think its the solenoid,
is this an easy fix? easy to do myself or am i taking it to a specialist, and are they going to charge me an arm and a leg for it?

if i can do it myself, how much are the solenoids and where do i get them from?

I'm not so sure, i had an issue with it a while ago that involved limp home mode, it would never go over 3rd gear and the other gears were a b**ch to select,

it seems to select the gears but theres nothing there, the revs drop to the respectable gear amount when cruising, but when i rev it it just keeps going until it grabs the previous gear...

i've been told its the front band thats broken... sounds like this car will meet its end soon

What he said.
The band fails, and it cannot engage 2nd or 4th. You have to get the road speed high enough in first, back off, stab it again and it may pick up third. Happens a lot, especially if you have a shift kit fitted....

And that, boys and girls, is why I now have a T5 in my ute.
