Hey guys im just wondering what parts you need to put 4.11s in a BF XR6 with a 6 speed auto, and how much it will cost and where to get it from I've heard that you need the M86 from the turbo and the driveshaft/s.
I may be wrong but this is what I've heard. :? :?:

I may be wrong but the diff ratio on a factory BF 6 speed is 2.73:1. Going to 4.11:1 is a big jump. What are you wanting to use it for?

Yes, you need an M86 Center and a good Diff shop.

You are correct SWC, it is 2.73.
4.11s are a big jump. Not trying to rain on your parade, haha. If its going to be used on the road, you may want to think about 3.9's or even 3.7's. The six speed auto just doesn't need such an aggressive ratio.

What is this insane fixation for 4.11's in a road car ? Sorry I just dont get nor can afford it . You do relise your fuel bill will go through the roof and you will go deaf driving round at 100KPH with the engine screaming its tits off don't you .

you have no idea what your on about, nor does the OP

the ZF has very short ratios, negating the need for a short diff.

i dont think anyone has fitted 4.11's behind the Zf 6sp........... it would be a cool experiment to see if the wheels continue spinning into top gear though

Oh really , you say in one breath I have no idea then confirm my statement by saying you wonder if it will spin in top gear . And are you sincerely claiming there will be no increase in fuel consumption ?

If the original spec diff is 2.73, for the ZF 6sp auto, then dropping to 3.08 or 3.23 or even down to 3.45 would be sufficient.

yes your statement was very broad and in general, wrong.

alot of older auto equipped cars have terrible ratios, and 4.11's can transform a sluggish car into a zippy cruiser. I fitted 3.73, then 4.11's in my EF and fuel economy was as good as from the factory......... and that was with cam, stall & custom tune. Yes it did rev at nearly 2400rpm on the highway, but its funny how little fuel an engine sips when its revving where it likes to be.

in the OP's car, the ratios are perfect as they are, no need to touch them.

yeah 3.23 ratio would be a nice upgrade, but i wouldnt go any further,
but in saying that the 6 speed auto n/a falcons are supposed to be far from slow as they are straight from ford.

Or try and find a territory diff, don't know if they'll fit but I can't see why not. My TTG runs a 3.46 in the rear.

ok so something like 3.45 would be more acceptable for a road car. what i want to find out what diff ratio to use to get in the 13's and a every day drive with around 200 rw kw. i am currently driving my fathers 2004 ba xt 4 speed but am thinking of a bf xr6 with the 6 speed for my p's.
