my 97 el falcon trans is all over the place! when i put my foot down it wont shift back a gear for about 30 secs then it will just go down 2 gears and sit on the rev limiter
 it will also go into 4th when i am doing 60 tru town. it is real difficult to drive. has anyone had this problam? if so how was it fixed?

How many km's the trans done, and has it been serviced?
Might need to get it serviced and flushed, as you could have a sticky valve or solenoid. Also get the tps checked or replaced, this could also cause issues with the auto, theyre only around $40 or so. |

sounds like it could be the neutral saftey switch these tell the p.c.m
what gear you want. or it could be the t.p.s. also. does your speedo work correctly?? i have seen people replace auto transmissions just to find the same probs with the new one. it ended up being the speedo dropping out and putting the auto into limp mode. Darren |

My trans does funny things sometimes too, doing 40-60 put foot down count to five goes to change hesitates picks nutral then first, revs up to the limiter bounces off, grabs second, my auto is borked though.

Also get the tps checked or replaced, this could also cause issues with the auto, theyre only around $40 or so. the trans hasnt been changed since new but its only done 100,000kms. the car has also just had a 100point service and check at a ford dealer. so all the oils have been replaced. the local mechanic also said to change the tps switch. the auto trans switch was just replaced to!
