Since my AUII is nearing 400,000klms I am about to change diff oil as well as transmission fluid.

Question is, do I need to stay with the recommended diff and Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) that Ford Recommends or can I use any other brand?

With reference to ATF, I have installed a second hand auto gearbox with new front and rear seals about close to 2 years ago. Do I do a complete ATF replacement (includes torque convertor) or just the standard as when changing transmission filter.

Any advice / suggestion would be welcome.

Cheers.

I use Penrite (look up the website)

I'm pretty sure that the btr four speed fitted to fords doesn't like anything else but castrol TQ95 as it was specifispecifically made for the gearbox. I've only ever used it and never had an issue with it. It's a little bit pricey but I wouldn't question millions of dollars of R&D and side something that wasn't made for that specific application. Just my 2 cents.

Javier86,

No worries, I hear wear you're coming from. I had used ATF from Bursons also specifically made for Ford, a bit cheaper. Never had a problem with it. I'll check the number product code and specs and will post on Tuesday

R&D does cost but also there are spinoffs that also make fluids to specs.

Some things with Ford, one needs to go genuine , with others one can go non genuine and does the same thing, only difference is cost. Eg. Oil filters, air filters, fuel filters, fuel pumps, water pumps, brake pads, brake discs to name a few.
