Easy enough to remove exhaust and drill a bit of a hole in the nut, just don't go too deep. The rear of it is a magnet anyway.

the big deal with welding a nut on is the heat involved, the heat usually frees the plug, and the nut just enables a bit of grip where it was lost by using the wrong sized allen key. Borg warner fasteners in the AU are imperial not metric.
I personally wouldn't fill without sighting the full fill plug. If it's low enough to take a litre or more then it probably needs a bit more attention than just oil alone.
