i am convertining my 2001 au II sr falcon from auto to manual iv got the jist of it but wanting to kno about the computer that runs on the auto , do i use the same one for the manual, or do i get a difrent one or just get rid of it , would i need to get a manual with a AU II computer or would it be alright to use an au I , II or III and how would i fit it on the gear box

Smartsheild needs to match the ECU to my knowledge but I think Ford can reprogram them for you.
I don't think you can use the E-Series resistor trick either on the AU's as the computer learns around it. So your two options are having a 2nd hand manual ECU reprogramed to your smartsheild or a CAPA flash can change it to 'manual mode'.

ohk thanks im planning to go to the wreckers this week t grab a computer so ill have to grab a manual one and take it to ford to get it reprogramed

basicly for my project ill need a obvously the gearbox, clutch, flywheel, manual pedal box, and tail shaft to suit manual plus themanual pc wich needs to be programed by fords

Don't take my word for it about Ford being able to reprogram it. I do recall reading it on one of the forums, but I very well could be mistaken.
Perhaps someone else here can confirm?
