Looking at servicing the auto on the Ef. I am tossing up between doing it myself or taking it down to a bloke in Penrith who I have been told is excellent.
The deal is it will cost me $120 for it to be done for me and I think $180 if the converter's drained at the same time. Now, I can get a kit for about $16 and from memory if I dont drain the converter its about 4L of fluid... So maybe $30 for Nulon fluid. If I do it myself I could get a set of ramps new, pay for the goods and still have change out of the $120.
The car doesnt seem to have really any issued with the auto and has just gone 195 on the clock. I have owned it for 20,000km and I dont know when the last auto service was done but the fluid seems ok to me.
If I get the bloke to do it for $120 will he just drop the fluid, change the filter and refill under an auto service or will he check belts etc? I ask because I am no trans internals tech and if the fluid and filters just being changed for $120 I dont see the point when I can do it myself.
Also, I was thinking about draining the converter if I did it. I thinks its about 10L with converter drained, is it hard to drain the converter at home?
Cheers
